The building
The old Tapp’sdepartment store.
The building is Art Moderne, built in 1940, and has been on the National Register of Historic Places since 1979. It was Tapp’s Department Store for about 92 years, until it closed in 1995. From 2011 to 2019 it was Tapp’s Arts Center. Today it’s 42 loft apartments and the Shoppes at Tapp’s retail upstairs, with the clock face still over the entrance.
The club is in the basement. There’s no sign at street level yet — the stairs, under the clock, are the whole trick.

Evenings and weekends — when the room is busiest — street parking on Main is free. During the day, it’s metered like the rest of downtown.

Free street parking after 7pm on weekdays, and all day Saturday and Sunday.

The Washington Street deck is closed for renovation — don’t head for it. Taylor St and Sumter St are the two decks to know.

Soda City Market runs every Saturday, 9am–1pm, covering the 1300–1700 blocks of Main Street — the club’s block included. It draws 7,000 to 10,000 people. First Thursday on Main happens monthly, 6–9:30pm, with the same energy at night.
